History
In 1988, Luxembourg’s first organic farmers and gardeners joined forces with responsible consumers to form the Cooperative Association of Luxembourg’s Organic Farmers : Bio-Bauere-Genossenschaft Lëtzebuerg (BIOG) which later became the nucleus of the OIKOPOLIS group. As a matter of fact, the cooperative gave rise to a whole network of organic marketing initiatives which emerged either from BIOG itself or in its environment.
Over the years there have been plenty of milestones along the way. Some of them are of a structural nature, whereas others were rather non-material or ideational ones. That is why the history of OIKOPOLIS’ organic projects comprises different types of historical data :
- Business set-up times and information on participations held by the group
- Organizational and structural enhancements
- The evolution of corporate culture and of corporate social and environmental responsibility
- Awards and prizes
